BAMENDA, Cameroon — One hundred young Cameroonians have completed a free three-week solar energy training programme organized by Cameroonian renewable energy company iPekoSol in Bamenda, aimed at promoting youth employment and expanding access to clean energy solutions.

Held from July 3 to 25, 2026, the programme equipped participants with practical skills in solar system design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, safety, and entrepreneurship through a combination of classroom lessons and hands-on field training.

The initiative concluded with a graduation ceremony attended by government officials, traditional rulers, representatives of educational institutions, and private sector partners.

Speaking at the event, iPekoSol CEO Alain Ngankepeh said the programme seeks to build a new generation of skilled professionals capable of driving Africa’s energy transition while creating employment opportunities within their communities.

The company said it plans to replicate the initiative in other regions, positioning the Bamenda programme as the first phase of a broader national youth empowerment and clean energy strategy.
