Chey Tae-won keeps control of SK despite 944 billion won divorce ruling

The Seoul High Court on Friday ordered SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won to pay his former wife, Roh Soh-yeong, $645.3 million (944 billion won) in cash, while allowing him to retain the SK shares that underpin his control of the conglomerate. The court assigned one-third of the divisible assets to Roh and two-thirds to Chey, finding that the shares formed part of the marital estate because Roh contributed to preserving and increasing their value through household work, child-rearing and public activities linked to SK.

The award was lower than the $944 million (1.3808 trillion won) ordered by the same court
