PM expects cabinet approval to release Tabung Haji RCI report this week | Malaysia

PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is confident that the Cabinet will agree to release the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji to the public at its meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

He said the government had no obstacle to publishing the report, but the process required Cabinet deliberation and approval before it could be made public.

“Previously, we delayed the release of the report because Tabung Haji said it needed time as there was a new management team in place to carry out improvements. Now, we are ready to make it public.

“If it had been revealed too early, we were concerned that public confidence in Tabung Haji would have been affected,” he said.

Anwar was speaking at the National Training Week (NTW) 2026 closing ceremony at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Penang Branch, Permatang Pauh Campus today.

He also revealed that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had congratulated Tabung Haji after the Malaysian pilgrimage fund was recognised as one of the world’s leading hajj management institutions.

The Prime Minister stressed that governance reforms remained a key priority under the MADANI Government to ensure leakages, abuse of power and corruption were eliminated.

“The government has had to bear nearly RM1 billion annually to fulfil FELDA’s financial commitments, for example, due to weaknesses in management and political interference in the past.

“This is despite the fact that the agency had previously recorded billions of ringgit in profits,” he said.

Anwar subsequently urged all ministries and agencies to continue strengthening governance and improving programme implementation to ensure government initiatives effectively reached the people. – July 25, 2026
