U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer is expected to issue an announcement regarding tariffs later Thursday, hours before the expiration of the temporary 10% global tariff imposed by President Donald Trump, according to the White House.اضافة اعلان

When asked about the approaching deadline, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters:

“An announcement will be coming very soon, later today (Thursday). I will simply say: stay tuned for more details.”

At the end of February, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a large portion of the tariffs imposed by Trump, ruling that he had misinterpreted the law in using it to justify the measures.

The ruling did not apply to tariffs on certain sectors, particularly automobiles, steel, aluminum, and copper.

Trump quickly responded by imposing new temporary tariffs of 10%, using a different law that allows him to introduce additional tariffs for a maximum period of 150 days, which expires on Friday.

Since then, the U.S. administration has prepared a new package of tariffs targeting around 60 economies, citing concerns related to forced labor, as part of efforts to rebuild the tariff barriers advocated by Trump.

However, officials have not yet announced a timetable for implementing the new tariffs, which are expected to range between 10% and 12.5%.

The measures follow a months-long investigation and are considered more firmly established and longer-lasting than previous tariff actions.
