No Meat Factory to close Stanwood site, more than 120 laid off

EVERETT — Canadian plant-based food manufacturer No Meat Factory will close its Stanwood plant in September, resulting in more than 120 layoffs.

No Meat Factory USA Inc. notified the state’s Employment Security Department that on Sept. 16 it will close its 10120 269th Pl NW location, according to filings in the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) layoff and closure database.

No Meat Factory did not immediately respond to The Daily Herald’s request for comment Thursday.

The company will provide the 123 impacted employees with information about available benefits, final pay, continuation of health coverage, unemployment insurance, and available workforce transition resources, No Meat Factory wrote in the notice.

In 2023, the state Department of Commerce announced that No Meat Factory would take over the Stanwood facility after Twin City Foods closed the facility in 2017. The company invested $20 million in renovations and improvements.

Economic Alliance Snohomish County worked closely with the plant-based contract manufacturer to secure incentives for the operation, including a $200,000 state grant for site updates, The Daily Herald previously reported.
