CHI St. Vincent announced Wednesday the receipt of a $1 million donation from Grace and John Steuri for a cardiac care center in Little Rock.

The gift will go toward the creation of the Anthony Center for Advanced Cardiac Care at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary, an expansion of CHI St. Vincent’s heart program hosting both inpatient and outpatient services, such as cardiac electrophysiology and cardiothoracic surgery programs, according to a news release.

“We are excited to show our support of the new Anthony Center for Advanced Cardiac Care,” the Steuris said in the release. “We have both benefited from the excellent structural heart care at CHI St. Vincent, and are thrilled to now join as supporters of this state-of-the-art facility that will be created to improve the heart health of Arkansans for years to come.”

John Steuri is a former CEO of Alltel, a telecommunications provider based in Little Rock until its dissolution 10 years ago.

“I am delighted to receive this wonderful gift from Grace and John Steuri for the growth of our structural heart program at the Infirmary.” said Dr. William G. Jones, CHI St. Vincent’s market president, in the release. “This gift will help us continue our mission and ministry in treating some of the most complex cardiovascular cases for the most vulnerable patients in Arkansas.”

The Steuris’ donation follows two $5 million donations toward the center, one from Boots and Alan Warrick in May and another from Isabel and John Ed Anthony, the center’s namesakes, in September. Both of those gifts are tied for the single-largest contribution in the health system’s history.

Construction on the center is expected to begin in the fall and finish in 2028, CHI St. Vincent officials said.
