GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KLKN) — Grand Island Utilities Department (GIUD) has warned customers of multiple scam calls. This type of scam has happened in the past, urging GIUD to reiterate their concern and tips.
Scam callers are impersonating GIUD customer service representatives, claiming the call receivers have credit.
According to the reports, the scammers claim the victims have credit or a refund from the GIUD and then try to obtain utility account information.
GIUD said they will never contact customers on the phone to request account information to issue a credit or refund.
They said to not provide any information and instead call GIUD directly using the phone number listed on the utility bill.
