Troopers close U.S. 2 eastbound in Everett to investigate shooting

EVERETT — Washington State Patrol closed U.S. 2 eastbound from Everett on Wednesday evening to investigate reports of a shooting.

Troopers blocked U.S. 2 from I-5 to Homeacres Road after reports of shots fired during a possible road rage incident, according to Washington State Patrol trooper Kelsey Harding on X.

There was no estimated time for reopening the highway as of 7:34 p.m., she said.

Around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, troopers were seen walking along the I-5 off-ramp for U.S. 2.

All lanes of the trestle heading east from were blocked starting at 6:40 p.m., according to an initial report from Washington State Department of Transportation.
