ZAGREB, 21 July 2026 (Croatia Week) – Croatia is not considering the liberalisation of its visa regime for Pakistani nationals, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has said in a statement, rejecting what it described as inaccurate and misleading claims circulating in parts of the media and on social media.
The ministry said there were no plans to abolish visa requirements or ease the conditions for issuing visas to citizens of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The only possibility currently being considered is allowing Pakistani nationals and businesspeople to submit visa applications in Islamabad instead of Iran.
The ministry stressed that this would be an administrative and consular change concerning the location where applications are received, rather than a change to Croatia’s visa policy.
It also said the measure would not involve an increase in the number of visas or work permits issued to Pakistani nationals.
According to the ministry, Pakistani nationals account for just 0.2% of all foreign nationals who have been issued residence and work permits in Croatia.
The clarification follows a July official visit to Pakistan by Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman.

During the visit, Grlić Radman met Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The two sides discussed bilateral relations between Croatia and Pakistan and opportunities for further cooperation, with a particular focus on strengthening economic ties and cooperation in the defence industry.
