We are entering the fourth week of the latest LeBron James saga, where he informed the Los Angeles Lakers that would be taking his talents elsewhere next season, and the NBA world has been on pins and needles ever since.
Some are hoping we get the answer last week at the Fanatics Fanfest in New York City, but James continued to play it coy with host Tyrese Haliburton. However, the rumor mill is spinning that a decision could come this week, but to where seems to still be hotly contested with conflicting reports everywhere.
The biggest real news is that there has been a big shift in the prediction markets. For more details on prediction markets read the Kalshi review.
The latest prediction markets now have a return to the Miami Heat as the most likely outcome, with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, and Philadelphia 76ers reportedly still in the mix.

Kalshi odds for LeBron James’ next team
Miami Heat (47%)
The Heat’s odds skyrocketed over the weekend. Miami had the third best odds last week sitting at about 13%, but it sounds like Pat Riley has put on the full-court press to get James to return to South Beach. And it’s probably a tempting pitch. It may not be teaming up Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, but you can make the case Giannis Antetokounmpo would be his best teammate ever. And the two on the court together is tantalizing to think about.
Cleveland Cavaliers (24%)
The Cavaliers were the favorites to land James for the majority of the process to this point, however, they’ve been losing steam in the prediction markets for weeks. A third stint in Cleveland is fun to think about, but it may not make the most basketball sense for James. Playing with Donovan Mitchell would be great, and having Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen to protect the rim make up for LeBron’s defensive shortcomings. But it feels like Cleveland would have to move James Harden to make this work.

Philadelphia 76ers (16%)
It feels like the 76ers have made the biggest public push to acquire James, and the Sixers brass may have a point that the King’s best chance to win another title is in Philly, but the market is saying that’s mostly smoke. Even with the acquisition of Jaylen Brown, and Tyrese Maxey also being a Rich Paul client this market has held steady in the 10-15% range.
Golden State Warriors (13%)
The Warriors price has probably been the most volatile during the process. They were the very early favorites before almost dropping out entirely before bouncing back. Teaming up with Steph Curry is the most fun outcome for basketball fans. Seeing if these two former rivals and future Hall of Famers could make one last push for a title together would be a great story.
