Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has stopped two motorists after they were caught driving at speeds exceeding 200km/h on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road towards Dhofar Governorate.
According to the ROP, the drivers were detected by mobile speed monitoring devices travelling at 206km/h and 201km/h. Legal procedures have been initiated against both motorists.
The ROP said it continues to monitor roads across the Sultanate through patrols and speed enforcement systems to curb dangerous driving and improve road safety.
Authorities urged motorists to comply with traffic laws and speed limits, stressing that excessive speeding remains one of the leading causes of serious road accidents. The police said strict action will continue to be taken against traffic offenders, particularly those involved in high-speed violations.
