Jakarta, IO – Visitors view artworks on display at Jakarta Provoke! 2026 at Taman Menteng, Jakarta (July 17). The open-air contemporary art exhibition, running from July 17–26, features 25 works by 25 artists, each curated by a different curator.
Using mixed media and artistic approaches unconstrained by formal conventions, the exhibited works reflect the many faces of Jakarta, from its social, political and economic dynamics to the emotional experiences that shape urban life. The exhibition invites the public to see the capital through the artists’ critical yet reflective perspectives.

Jakarta Provoke! emerged from artists’ concerns that Jakarta’s visual arts scene has often been overlooked within Indonesia’s broader art landscape. By bringing the exhibition into a public space, the organizers hope to make contemporary art more accessible while fostering dialogue between artists, their works and the public. (IO/Faisal Ramadhan)
