Serbia is set to take a significant step in space exploration today by joining the Artemis Accords. The agreement, to be signed at NASA Headquarters in Washington, will give Serbia the opportunity to participate in international missions to the Moon, Mars and other celestial bodies.

Serbia will be represented at the signing ceremony by Foreign Minister Marko Đurić, who is currently on an official visit to the United States. The Artemis Accords, established in 2020 during President Donald Trump’s first term in office, were developed jointly by NASA and the US Department of State. Their purpose is to promote safety, transparency and international cooperation in the peaceful exploration of outer space.

By signing the agreement, Serbia will become the 69th country to join the Artemis Accords, alongside numerous other nations already participating in this global initiative.

The accession ceremony will also be attended by NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson and Wesley Brooks, US Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans, International Environmental and Scientific Affairs.
