With Spain set to face defending champion Argentina in the World Cup Finals on Sunday, public opportunities for watching the games live are taking place in Fayetteville and Springdale.

Ozark United FC announced in a news release Wednesday it would be partnering with Experience Fayetteville and local businesses to host the final “Global Game Fest” community watch party Sunday in the Upper Ramble in Fayetteville.

The local event starts at noon with the game set to begin at 2 p.m. Attendees will be able to watch the championship match on a large outdoor screen while listing to music and participating in family-friendly activities, the release states. Food trucks will also be on site for those wanting to grab a bite to eat.

The free event is open to people of all ages, according to Ozark United FC. The event will include face-painting, games and soccer-themed activities.

Limited seating is available in the Upper Ramble at 251 N. West Ave., so people are encouraged to bring law chairs, the release states.

Ozark United FC is a project co-founded by Chris Martinovic and Warren Smith with the mission of bringing a professional soccer team to Northwest Arkansas.

In Springdale, the Downtown Springdale Alliance is partnering with the Springdale Parks and Recreation Department to broadcast the championship match on a large outdoor screen set up in Luther George Park, 300 Park St.

“Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, friends, and family, and experience the excitement with our community,” the alliance posted on its Facebook page Tuesday.

The organization has broadcast various matches in the park since World Cup play started. The alliance made a point in a separate Facebook post on Tuesday to thank Ozark United FC and Sam’s Club for helping to make the screenings at the park possible.

“Because of their support, the big screen at Luther George Park came to life, bringing the community together to celebrate and create unforgettable memories in Downtown Springdale,” the post states.
