PUČIŠĆA, BRAČ, 14 July 2026 – A new season of the International Summer Music School has begun in Pučišća on the island of Brač, bringing together around 150 young musicians from Croatia and across Europe for weeks of intensive musical education, performances and international exchange.
One of the most respected summer music programmes in the region, the school has been held for more than 30 years, attracting students, young artists and leading music educators to the island’s unique surroundings.
This year’s participants come from Croatia, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Poland, France, Austria, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
They will develop their skills under the guidance of renowned Croatian and international professors through individual lessons, chamber music, orchestral work, masterclasses and public performances.
Over the years, the programme has become an important meeting point for emerging musicians and experienced educators. Many former participants have gone on to become professional concert performers, members of respected orchestras and music professors across Europe.

Beyond its educational role, the summer school has also become an important part of Brač’s cultural life. Concerts by students and professors, open to the public, transform squares, churches and other island venues into gathering places where music connects local communities, visitors and performers.
A new element of this year’s programme is a collaboration with Vaterpolski klub Pučišća, bringing together two different disciplines, music and sport.

During the summer programme, young musicians will perform during the club’s training sessions, creating a unique atmosphere where artistic expression and athletic dedication meet. Organisers say the initiative highlights shared values between music and sport, including discipline, teamwork, commitment and the pursuit of excellence.

The partnership also demonstrates how cooperation between cultural and sporting organisations can enrich community life and contribute to the island’s wider tourism offering.
While the classical music programme continues in Pučišća, Bol will once again host jazz and singing workshops, expanding the summer programme across two Brač communities and offering participants opportunities to explore different musical styles.

The international character of the school has made it a place for cultural exchange, new friendships and artistic cooperation among young people from different countries and backgrounds.

Throughout the summer, concerts by students and professors will take place in Pučišća and other locations across Brač, giving audiences the opportunity to hear the results of their work and experience performances created during the programme.
