The Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) marked the conclusion of the week-long GHTA Discover Hospitality Camp, a hands-on learning experience designed to introduce 22 Form 3 and Form 4 secondary school students from throughout Grenada to the island’s tourism industry, sustainable practices, and potential career pathways.
Over the course of the camp, participants took part in immersive workshops, site visits to hotels and attractions, skills sessions in guest service and food and beverage, sustainability and marine stewardship activities, and mentoring by industry professionals. The programme aimed to build practical skills, spark curiosity about tourism careers, and cultivate the next generation of leaders for Grenada’s hospitality sector.
Remarks at the closing ceremony were delivered by Leslie Ann Johnson, Communications Director, Ministry of Tourism; Mandoo Seales, GHTA Director and Co-Founder of Grenada Green Group; Youth Ambassador Ella-Rose Charles and special invited guests. The formal vote of thanks was given by GHTA Hospitality Ambassador Ethan Edwards.

“Seeing our young people engage so enthusiastically with hospitality and sustainability has been incredibly inspiring,” said Arlene Friday, GHTA CEO. “The camp reinforces what we already know: when we invest in education and real-world experience, we strengthen the future of our industry and the stewardship of our beaches, coastlines and communities. These participants left with new skills, new connections, and a clearer sense of the many career paths tourism offers.”
Youth Ambassador Charles, who supported camp activities, added: “This week showed me how exciting and diverse careers in tourism can be — from protecting our coastlines to welcoming guests from around the world. I’m proud to have been part of a programme that empowers young people to care for our island and to explore meaningful work right here at home.”
