Washington Stipulates Handing Over “Nuclear Dust” and Halting Navigation Threats for an Agreement with Iran

A senior official in the Trump administration confirmed that the United States will not conclude any final agreement with Iran unless it hands over its entire stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which Washington describes as “nuclear dust.”
ABC News and Reuters quoted the official as saying that this condition is essential to ensure Tehran does not come close to possessing a nuclear weapon, noting that Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium is estimated at more than 900 pounds.
This stance comes within the framework of ongoing negotiations between the two sides during a 60-day window, following the memorandum of understanding signed in Islamabad last month.
Washington also stipulates that Iran declare its commitment to halting attacks on international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and guaranteeing the free movement of commercial vessels.
Should negotiations falter, US officials hinted that options are not limited to the diplomatic path, but also include economic and military measures to prevent Iran from developing or using its nuclear capabilities.
