MNHRC members inspect the Training School for Girls (Malikha) in Yangon on 10 July 2026.
On 10 July 2026, an inspection team from the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, led by Members Dr Myint Thu Myaing, U Than Win and U Ohn Khaing, carried out a field inspection of the Training School for Girls (Malikha) in Mayangon Township, Yangon Region.
Under the provisions and procedures of the Commission Law, the inspection team inspected the training school regarding access to healthcare services, provision of food, dormitory arrangements, sufficient supply of personal hygiene products, provision of purified drinking water, and the cleanliness and adequacy of the water tank. Furthermore, the inspection team covered the rehabilitation efforts aimed at improving mental and physical well-being through behavioural reformation, providing psychological encouragement for social independence so they can stand as valuable members of society, as well as access to education, access to vocational training, the right to contact and reintegration with their family members. The team also observed the right to freedom of religion, while additionally reviewing the status of implementation of recommendations made during their previous visit.
The findings and recommendations from the inspection visits will be sent to the relevant department for necessary action under the Commission’s law. — MNHRC
