Man charged in lighting car on fire
A man was arrested Thursday after police said he admitted to setting fire to a car and asking another person to “be his alibi,” an arrest report from Jacksonville police says.
Michael Dominguez, 35, of Jacksonville faces two felony counts of arson.
Around 6:27 a.m., police responded to 149 Roosevelt Road after a woman said she knew who had set her boyfriend’s car on fire, the report says.
She said she had heard from a woman at 186 Roosevelt Road that Dominguez had come inside the night before saying, “I just lit that motherf****er’s car on fire and need you to be my alibi,” the report says.
At 186 Roosevelt Road, police found the woman and Dominguez and interviewed them separately, the report says.
Dominguez told police he got home around 5:30 p.m., went into his room, listened to music and watched Yellowstone all night, the report says. The woman told a different story, saying Dominguez came in around 2:10 a.m., woke her up and said he had set a car on fire and needed her to be his alibi, the report says.
The report isn’t clear on where the fire was but says it caused damage to a residence and a GMC Yukon.
Dominguez was being held in the Pulaski County jail Thursday evening with no bond set. He is scheduled to appear Friday in Jacksonville District Court.
