As per the forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun, a ‘Warning (Take Action)’ category alert has been issued for Nainital district for July 10. While issuing the Red Alert, the department has predicted the possibility of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, lightning strikes, and spells of intense to extremely intense rain in the district.
Given the continuous rainfall in the district, the water levels in rivers, streams, and rivulets have risen, and the risk of landslides in vulnerable areas has increased. Considering the potential for disaster and the safety of students, the district administration has declared a one-day holiday on July 10 (Friday) for all government, semi-government, and private schools (Classes 1 to 12) in the district. Additionally, all Anganwadi centers in the district will remain closed.
