EZULWINI – Strong partnerships between government, academia and the private sector are driving Eswatini’s digital healthcare transformation, according to Dr Samson Haumba.

Dr Haumba made the remarks during the prize presentation ceremony for winners of the NOTSA Health App raffle draw, where he described the collaboration between the Ministry of Health, Georgetown University and MTN Eswatini as a model for improving healthcare access through digital innovation.

He commended the Ministry of Health for providing the leadership and vision behind the NOTSA Health App, saying the digital platform is a ministry-led initiative designed to strengthen the country’s healthcare system.

Dr Haumba also praised MTN Eswatini for its contribution through the 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign, saying the telecommunications company had done more than sponsor prizes by helping raise awareness of the app and encouraging communities to embrace digital healthcare.

“Digital health solutions only achieve their full potential when they are accessible, trusted and actively used by the people they are designed to serve,” he said.

He said the raffle draw celebrated more than just prize winners, noting that it recognised people who had taken responsibility for their health by adopting technology and embracing positive health-seeking behaviour.

According to Dr Haumba, the success of the campaign demonstrated how collaboration can help address national health priorities. He called for the partnership to continue beyond the current initiative to further strengthen Eswatini’s digital health agenda.

He identified digital literacy as one of the country’s key priorities, saying more emaSwati need the skills and confidence to effectively use platforms such as the NOTSA Health App.

Dr Haumba said improving digital literacy would support the Ministry of Health’s digital health strategy, advance Georgetown University’s commitment to evidence-based healthcare innovation and reinforce MTN Eswatini’s vision of leading the country’s digital future.

He added that increased digital confidence would encourage more people to use mobile technology for healthcare, education and financial services, ultimately contributing to a healthier population and a stronger digital economy.

Dr Haumba urged emaSwati to continue embracing digital health solutions, saying collaboration, innovation and a shared commitment to improving lives have the potential to transform healthcare and create a more connected Eswatini.
