In temporarily occupied Crimea, on the Kerch Peninsula, a fire has been reported at a major power substation supplying the North Crimean Canal.
According to Ukrinform, the monitoring group of the Crimean Wind Telegram channel reported this, citing satellite imagery.
“Since last night, the 220/35/10 kV NS-3 substation—which powers the North Crimean Canal—has been on fire,” the report states.
It is noted that Kerch is without power.
The 220/35/10 kV NS-3 substation is equipped with powerful transformers: 1T rated at 25 MVA and 2T rated at 20 MVA.
The substation is a hub, and 220 kV overhead lines branch off from it: NS-3 to Feodosia (58 km), NS-3 to Kamysh-Burun (49 km), NS-3 to Chornomorske (28 km), and the double-circuit NS-3 to Kazantyp (2×21 km).
It is also reported that on the night of July 8, explosions were heard in Kerch, the Bakhchysarai district, the area around the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant, and in Sevastopol’s South Bay.
“In the Pivdenna Bay, where, according to preliminary data, two explosions occurred, the last remaining ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are hiding,” the Telegram channel added.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Defense Forces’ operation in Crimea resulted in the Defense Forces’ control of the fuel and energy complex of the occupied peninsula and disrupted logistics.
