Spencer Pratt Fumes About ‘Vile, Commie’ Zohran Mamdani

Failed Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt seethed about New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as he ranted about the evils of communism on social media Saturday.

In a five-and-a-half-minute video staged in the ruins of his home in Pacific Palisades, California, which burned down in the Pacific Palisades fires last year, Pratt called Mamdani a “vile commie.”

Wearing a shirt that said “anti socialists social club,” Pratt criticized the progressive’s Fourth of July speech marking America’s 250th anniversary, as he raged that, “We all had to sit and watch that vile, commie mayor sit on the wrong side of our founding father’s desk to try to lecture us about our own history.”

In his speech, Mamdani rebuked the right’s anti-immigration stance while outlining an inclusive vision of patriotism as he sat at a desk that once belonged to President George Washington surrounded by 10 newly naturalized American citizens.

Though critical of ongoing immigration crackdowns and those who hold a “love it or leave” it idea of national pride, the mayor explained: “Patriotism has never been about pretending our nation is without flaws” and that love for your country is what motivates any call for the nation to hold itself to higher moral standards.

Nevertheless, Pratt accused Mamdani, a democratic socialist, of believing in the “evil, anti-human religion” of communism, and claimed he was trying to “rewrite history” as he dared to “lecture us about what our country stands for.”

“Erasing history is how you demoralize people, how you unmoor them and detach them from their society so you can take it from them and rewrite it in your image,” Pratt said. “Isn’t it weird how even the bad memories make us cherish a place?”

In his speech, Mamdani dismissed those who demand a "love it or leave" approach to patriotism.

Pratt, a registered Republican, campaigned in June’s nonpartisan primary for Los Angeles mayor, coming in third behind incumbent Karen Bass and democratic socialist and Los Angeles City Council member Nithya Raman, who will face off during November’s general election.

After Raman secured her spot on the fall’s ballot following a lengthy vote counting process, Pratt and other conservatives baselessly claimed the election process had been rigged.

The mayoral reject’s comments come after a slate of self-identified democratic socialists and other insurgent progressives beat several incumbent Democrats in recent primaries, inciting a bipartisan uproar over a supposed leftward shift in Democratic politics.
