Employees of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, in the framework of the fight against illegal logging, from January 1 to June 30, 2026, identified 946 facts of illegal logging.
The Environmental Supervision Department of Georgia shared glimpses of the facts identified by the department on its official Facebook Page on July 6, 2026, Monday. The Georgian Department also shared a small note about the identified facts along with its glimpses.
110 of them contain criminal offenses, and materials were sent to relevant authorities for further response. 711 of the reported violations relate to the illegal acquisition-transportation of wood and forest, and 235 – cases of violation of technical regulations and illegal activities by saws.

According to regions, the most – 222 facts were recorded in Adjara. Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti – 174, Kakheti – 172, Imereti – 124, Samtskhe-Javakheti – 66, Lower Kartli – 48, Racha-Lechkhumi-Lower Svaneti- 39, Guria – 39, Shida Kartli – 32, Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 25.
5 violations of the law have been reported in the capital. Environmental Patrol and Rapid Reaction officers in Tbilisi, in 6 months, detected 2 illegal mining saws, as well as 1 illegal transport of wood and forest, and 2 violations of technical regulations of saw mining.
Protection of natural resources and prevention, detection and removal of illegal use of forests is a priority for the Department of Environmental Supervision. Departmental crews are patrolling around the country on a 24-hour basis; immediate response to every message received on the Ministry’s hotline (153).
