Illegal fireworks are suspected to have caused a fire and over $250,000 in property damages in the southwest valley, fire officials said.
The Clark County Fire Department was dispatched to a building fire at 6370 S. Pioneer Way at 1:45 a.m. Sunday the morning after the Fourth of July.
Responding fire personnel observed smoke and flames emanating from the roof on the north side of the large commercial tilt-up structure, the department said in a release. Crews located and extinguished the fire, which was confined to the roof.
The department said there were no occupants inside the building at the time of fire, and no civilians or responder injuries were reported.
Property damage is estimated to exceed $250,000.
“The cause of the fire is currently undetermined; however, illegal fireworks are suspected,” the release said.
