Woman, 70, hospitalized in crash north of Michigan-Indiana border

CASS COUNTY, MI – A 70-year-old woman was hospitalized in a crash in Southwest Michigan on Wednesday, May 21.

Deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash at 1:10 p.m. on Redfield Street and Ironwood Road in Cass County’s Milton Township, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the 70-year-old woman, of Walkerton, Indiana, was driving north on Ironwood when she failed to stop at a stop sign and hit another vehicle at the intersection with Redfield.

The woman was taken to a hospital by ambulance to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash. The other driver, a 25-year-old from Decatur, was uninjured.

Cass County sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, SMCAS Ambulance and Niles Township Fire Department.
