Maj. Gen. Costa also said the directorate has received 237,500 nationality certificate booklets, five production machines, including two for passports and three for nationality documents, as well as 100 mobile registration kits.
“Today we have received about 5,000 passport booklets. Anybody who applies can get a passport or nationality within two or three days,” he announced.
He said the new resources have improved service delivery, with most applicants now receiving their passports or nationality certificates within two to three days.
He also revealed that more than 400 passports have been produced and sent to South Sudanese who applied through the country’s embassy in Egypt.
“In Egypt, we have already sent more than 400 passports. The embassy is now connected to our headquarters through an online syste m.
“We are also working to connect all embassies, the 10 states and the three administrative areas with online system so people can apply there and we process their documents here before sending them back,” he added.
The Directorate says it plans to connect all South Sudanese embassies, the 10 states, and the three administrative areas to an online system to improve access and speed up passport and nationality services for citizens.
