In a significant move to strengthen healthcare services in the district, dialysis facilities will soon be available at the District Hospital in Chamoli. Garhwal MP Anil Baluni has sanctioned ₹65 lakh from his MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund for the installation of a dialysis machine, with the first installment of ₹50 lakh already released. With this initiative, kidney patients in the district will no longer need to travel to Dehradun, Srinagar, or other districts for dialysis treatment.
The availability of quality dialysis facilities at the District Hospital itself will save patients time and money while sparing them unnecessary hardship. Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Anurag Dhanik stated that the process of installing the dialysis machine has commenced using the funds received from the MP’s grant. All formalities, including the necessary tendering process for the machine’s procurement and installation, will be completed promptly to ensure the facility is made available to local residents as soon as possible.
He added that the district administration is also working on the necessary infrastructure and other preparations required for the smooth operation of the machine. Dialysis services will begin at the District Hospital once all procedures are finalized. The launch of this facility will provide better local treatment options for kidney patients in Chamoli and surrounding areas. It will relieve them of the burden of frequently traveling to other districts for treatment and prove to be a significant step toward making healthcare services more accessible, effective, and convenient.
