INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Young people will gather at the Saint Florian Center on Thursday to learn how to trade conflict for commerce during the center’s annual Violence-Free Market Day.
Over 120 students, ages ranging from 2 to thirteen years old, are expected to participate and become entrepreneurs for the day. “They not only learn the business skills, but they learn how to do something positive instead of getting involved with negative acts and learn about conflict resolution, Ret. Chief Tony Williamson said.
Zy’lynn Lester is involved in the program and says her group is working on a project called “The Sunny Side Days,” where the students are focusing on exploring positivity and how to keep young minds focused on ‘what they need to do and what’s happening.’
“It really makes my heart to see everyone having fun,” Lester said. “You learn like everything doesn’t have to be a problem, and it can be right if you just take a couple steps back.”
Lester says that you can rule you’re own world if you know how to use it.
