The Carenage comes alive for 3rd annual We Pan Fest

The Carenage came alive with the sound of steelpan, Soca and community spirit on Sunday, 28 June 2026, as the third annual We Pan Fest brought families, musicians, artistes, vendors and patrons together at the Pedestrian Plaza.

Hosted by Senator the Honourable Claudette Joseph and the town community, the event celebrated Grenada’s steelpan heritage while creating space for local talent, small businesses and community connection.

“We Pan Fest continues to reflect my mission of community development through culture, togetherness and opportunity,” said Senator Joseph. “It is a joy to see The Carenage filled with families, musicians, vendors and residents celebrating something that belongs to all of us. This is how we build pride in our communities and create spaces where people feel connected.”

This year’s festival featured 6 steel orchestras, up from four in 2025, offering patrons a wider showcase of Grenada’s steelpan movement. Performances came from Corinthians Steel Orchestra, making its first appearance at We Pan Fest, along with River Road Pan Wizards, Republic Bank Angel Harps, IMA Rainbow City All Stars, Nexa New Dimension and reigning Panorama Champions Co-op Bank Commancheros.

The programme also featured local artistes including Blaka Dan, General PP, Temptress, L.E.D. Bad Artiste, Zeal, Khaos, Alma Boy, Hitz and Yung Pert, creating a full evening of entertainment for patrons of all ages.

As part of the evening’s proceedings, Senator Joseph honoured fathers in steelpan for their contribution to the development of the art form. Patrons also observed a moment of silence in memory of pan players who passed away over the last year, recognising their service and lasting contribution to Grenada’s cultural heritage.

Prime Minister Honourable Dickon Mitchell made an appearance during the event and briefly addressed the crowd, lending his support to the festival and Grenada’s steelpan community.

The organisers extend sincere thanks to the performers, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, production team, Royal Grenada Police Force and all patrons who contributed to the successful staging of We Pan Fest 2026. Plans are already underway for We Pan Fest 2027 to be held on Father’s Day, as the event continues to build on its role as a celebration of steelpan, community and Grenadian culture.
