The fautasi races for American Samoa’s commemoration of America’s 250th Anniversary are scheduled for next Monday, June 29th.

All 13 fautasi that raced in the Flag Day regatta will be competing.

According to a schedule announced by the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority and the Reid Family Group, there will be two heats on Monday and the championship race is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30. If weather conditions are not favorable, the races will be held on Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2.

A total of $180,000 will be awarded for the fautasi race with the winner taking $30,000, $25,000 for 2nd place, $20,000 for third place, $15,000 for 4th place and 5th to 13th taking $10,000n each.

A $2,000 Most Spirited Team Award will be presented to the crew that best exemplifies enthusiasm, teamwork, sportsmanship and village pride throughout the competition.

Other events planned for the America 250 celebration are a concert on Saturday, July 4 featuring Stan Walker, Kennyon Brown, DJ Noiz and NATO Brothers.

This takes place at the Samoa Motors Lot across from Lions Park Tennis Court. Gates open at 3pm and the concert starts at 5pm. The concert will be followed by a drone light show and fireworks display.
