The incident came to public attention on Friday after a tourist shared the experience in a social media group in Nghe An with nearly 200,000 members.

According to the post, the group had been enjoying their trip to Cua Lo Ward, visiting attractions including a water park, a cable car, and an island entertainment area before stopping for food and drinks.

The tourist said everything had gone smoothly until they sat down at a drink stall.

While they were enjoying food and drinks, the owner of the neighboring stall suddenly used a water hose to spray water all over the area where they were sitting, the tourist wrote.

The visitor described the incident as deeply disappointing, saying they never expected such rude and uncivilized behavior at one of the largest and most well-known tourist destinations in north-central Vietnam.

Videos accompanying the post showed a man spraying water from a hose toward a neighboring food and drink stall while many tourists were standing or seated nearby.

The post quickly attracted hundreds of comments, with many social media users criticizing the man’s behavior and saying such actions harmed the image of the local tourism industry.

Cao Minh Tu, chairman of the People’s Committee of Cua Lo Ward, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that local authorities had ordered the ward police, the culture and social affairs division, and other relevant agencies to investigate the incident after it generated negative public reaction.

Authorities have requested that the investigation be completed and the results reported by Monday.

The ward administration also instructed the operators of entertainment and tourism areas to require all business owners and staff to strictly follow regulations on commercial conduct and tourism etiquette, preventing customer solicitation disputes, disorder, and inappropriate behavior toward visitors or neighboring businesses.
