Malawi’s Spanner extends unbeaten run at Nigeria eating championship

Malawian competitive eater Spanner Malawi has maintained his unbeaten run at an international eating championship in Nigeria after securing his third consecutive victory.

Spanner defeated host competitor Spanner Nigeria on Monday to remain undefeated in the tournament, earning a cash prize of 400,000 Nigerian Naira for his latest triumph.

Speaking to African Culture TV via WhatsApp after the contest, Spanner expressed delight with his performance and thanked Malawians for their unwavering support.

“I am very happy with how things are going. I have now won all the three contests I have taken part in here,” he said.

Spanner said only one contest remains before the championship concludes next week.

He revealed that after the final match, competitors would take part in another challenge, with the overall winner earning an opportunity to secure a place in the Guinness World Records.

“After that, there will be another challenge where the overall winner will secure a place in the Guinness World Records,” he said.

Spanner’s impressive run has attracted widespread attention in both Malawi and Nigeria, with many supporters hoping he will complete the tournament unbeaten and book a place in the prestigious Guinness World Records.
