EAST GRAND FORKS, MN – So much for an early season slump.
Jaxon Kolpin had four hits and five runs batted in Friday, leading the Jamestown Eagles to a 12-7 win over East Grand Forks at Stauss Park.
Before Thursday, Kolpin had two hits in his first 24 bats this season for Jamestown (9-10). In a 6-4 win at Grand Forks Thursday, Kolpin had two hits.
On Friday, he tripled in two runs to tie the game during a five-run rally in the sixth inning. Kolpin singled in two more runs in the eighth and another in the ninth.
In the sixth, Kale Verke put Jamestown ahead with a sacrifice fly before Bennett Goehner singled in a run for a 5-3 lead. Kale Backen singled in the first run of the frame.
East Grand Forks evened the game with two runs in the home sixth before Jamestown scored two in the seventh. Kolpin’s single gave the Eagles the lead to stay and Kyler Perkins hit a sacrifice fly.
Jamestown led 10-5 after a three-run eighth inning. Kolpin’s two-run single was followed by Colton Gerlach drawing a bases loaded walk.
Cody Busch’s RBI double and Kolpin’s last run-producing single gave the Eagles their final two runs in the top of the ninth.
Jamestown will return to AA Legion play Tuesday with a doubleheader against Fargo Post 400 at 5:30 PM at Jack Brown Stadium.
