Task Force Authorities report the lowest cumulative homicide rate since 2023

The Joint Task Force continues to consolidate historical results in citizen security, registering an accumulated homicide rate of 6.98 per 100,000 inhabitants as of June 19, 2026, the lowest since 2023, reflecting the strengthening of preventive, investigative, and crime-prosecution strategies implemented at the national level.

According to the 153rd weekly crime statistics report, the rate for June stood at 4.73 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants, maintaining the sustained trend of reduction in this indicator, considered one of the main benchmarks of citizen security.

The report also highlights that 29 of the country’s 34 territories have single-digit homicide rates. In contrast, only five have double-digit rates, meaning that 85.3% of the national territory has an incidence of 9.99 or fewer homicides per 100,000 inhabitants.

These results are the product of coordinated actions by the Joint Task Force, comprising the National Police, the Armed Forces, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and other state security agencies, carried out through targeted operations, intelligence work, preventive patrols, and the permanent monitoring of crime indicators.
