2026 Trailseeker Limited adds mid-size EV to Subaru SUV lineup

Subaru has entered the electric vehicle sweepstakes with four models to entice prospective lifestyles: Uncharted, Trailseeker, Solterra and Getaway.

My tester with the 2026 Trailseeker, a mid-size SUV with a bold, adventure-focused design that checks all the Subaru boxes with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, high ground clearance, and EyeSight driver-assist safety technology. It is available in Premium, Limited, and Touring trim.

Completing the electric family are the Uncharted and Solterra compact SUV models, and the full-size Getaway with three-rows and a seven-passenger capacity.

Trailseeker is powered by a 375-horsepower dual-motor all-electric powertrain paired with a 74.7-kWh high-capacity, lithium-ion battery. The combination delivers a range of 230 miles, 0-to-60 miles per hour acceleration in 4.4 seconds, and towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. A regenerative braking system with four paddle-controlled modes extends range.

It also benefits from a standard NAC-S-compatible charge port that delivers Tesla Supercharger access and a quick, convenient charges at more than 25,000 fast chargers across the county. An adapter mated the port to my Level2 garage charger, boosting the Trailseeker from 60 to 200 miles range in about six hours. A quick charge completes the task in about 25 minutes.

Subaru adds dual-function X-MODE with grip control to add even more off-road capability to push your electrified adventures beyond the point where ordinary electric vehicles are forced to turn around. X-MODE optimizes traction with setting for snow, dirt, deep snow, and mud.

Trailseeker provides comfortable, heated, Star Tex-trimmed seating for all five passengers. A generous cargo area is wide enough to accommodate full-size golf bags. The split 60/40 rear seats fold flat when even more cargo space is required. The area is accessed by a power rear lift gate with open/close kick sensor.

Interior highlights include a 14-inch multimedia system with touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, cloud-based navigation, two wireless phone chargers, Harman Kardon speaker system, automatic climate control with S-flow HVAC management, 12V power outlet, and multiple USB-C charge ports.

Exterior features include auto-folding and heated side mirrors, dark tint privacy glass, sound-insulating windshield, 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels with aerodynamic covers, and striking “Daybreak Blue Pearl” coat of enamel. It also features a new Subaru EV light signature at the front with a six-star illuminated logo, new headlamp and front bumper design.

Trailseeker Touring adds more luxury features above Trailseeker Limited including a gloss black hood accent, panoramic glass roof with motorized shade, ventilated front seats and radiant leg warmers.

A drive along the backroads of Snohomish and King counties highlighted Trailseeker’s smooth, quiet handling and driving characteristics. In a lot of ways I reminded me of our Forester that has been a loyal family servant for the past nine years.

Completing the EV package is an EyeSight driver-assistance package with Pre-Collision Braking, Front Cross Traffic Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Departure Alert, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, and Emergency Steering.

All Trailseeker models are equipped with Blind Spot Monitors, automatic windshield wipers, a rear window wiper, and headlight washers.
