The World Cup has brought in millions of international travelers to the U.S., many of whom are experiencing American culture for the first time — but some are not impressed with their findings.
As tourists flock to major cities like Boston, Houston and New York City for the 2026 Fifa World Cup, foreign visitors have gone viral for their heartwarming reactions to American culture, whether it be euphoria over Waffle House trips or amazement at the sizes of U.S. stadiums.
However, some soccer fans have been let down by the new experiences — as demonstrated in a recent video on Instagram by sports broadcaster Maggie Gray, who asked Norwegian fans what surprised them the most about America while outside of MetLife Stadium in New Jersey for Norway’s match against Senegal.
“For me, the Dunkin’ Donuts is not that good,” one Norway fan admitted in the video. He then clarified that he had been disappointed by the donuts at the beloved coffee chain.
There are currently no Dunkin’ stores in Norway, although there are thousands of chain locations globally. Dunkin’ did not immediately return The Independent’s request for comment on the remarks.

Instagram users weighed in on whether Dunkin’ is overrated in the comments of the post, with one foreign fan writing: “For the people asking about Dunkin’ Donuts… I don’t know where it comes from but I do know when we came to the U.S. it’s one of those things you always get… however, after moving to the States myself I can confirm Americans literally do not go there.”
Another joked in the comments, “Who told them to go to Dunkin’ Donuts?” A third added, “He’s not wrong, the donuts suck.” Other commenters urged the sports fans to try Krispy Kreme donuts instead.

Other Norway fans who were interviewed in Gray’s video also said that they were surprised by the food, though they did not mention their reactions to Dunkin’ or any specific chains.
“It’s really different from back home,” one woman said. “We have taste-tested a lot of the food.” Her friend then added that the portion sizes are much bigger in America than in their home country. Another man in the clip said that he was surprised by the tipping culture in the United States.
Earlier this week, Norway fans took New York City by storm as they crashed Times Square and performed their iconic Viking Row before later repeating the routine in the city’s subway.
