Following a heated argument over money, a boy stabbed his elder brother to death in Gujarat’s Amreli city. The accused, identified as Mayur, was arrested within hours of the crime.
The incident took place late Tuesday night at a slum when Mayur was involved in an argument with his grandmother, Nandaben Vanodiya, over money. During the quarrel, Mayur allegedly threatened her with a knife and abused her.
At that moment, Nandaben’s elder grandson Manoj reached the spot and tried to intervene, asking his younger brother to calm down and stop the argument.
Police said Manoj’s attempt to pacify the situation allegedly enraged Mayur further. The argument escalated, following which Mayur allegedly attacked his elder brother with a sharp-edged weapon.
Manoj suffered a deep injury on the left side of his chest and collapsed at the spot. Despite efforts, he died due to the injuries, police said.
After the attack, Mayur reportedly attempted to flee from the scene. However, local residents alerted the police, following which an immediate search operation was launched.
Police teams set up checkpoints and managed to catch the accused before he could leave the city.
Police have seized the weapon allegedly used in the crime and other evidence.
