Tamania Homestay in Lopta has expanded its facilities, marking steady progress for locally driven tourism development in Rotuma.

The upgrade features an enlarged dining area and improved amenities, lifting the homestay’s capacity to around 20 guests and enhancing comfort for visitors staying on the island.

The business was established in 2021 by Vilsoni Garisau Epeli and Navatonu Tonu, who have steadily developed the homestay into a growing family-run tourism venture.

The expansion was made possible with support from the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management through its Self-Help Programme, which contributed funding assistance for the project.

Mr. Epeli said the development has helped the family improve their operations while also opening up opportunities for local involvement through services and visitor engagement with Rotuma’s culture.

He added that the growth reflects their long-term goal of welcoming more visitors while maintaining a strong community focus.
