Suspected Bangladeshi national held for illegal stay

The Kuruppampady police arrested a suspected Bangladeshi national who was allegedly staying at Asamannur, Kothamangalam.

The arrested is Mohammad Rathon Islam, 33, a native of Rajashahi district, Bangladesh. He had been working at a plywood factory at Asamannur.

According to the police, he entered India illegally by crossing the international border without any valid documents. Later, he travelled to the State and worked at various locations.

The police said that during the investigation they recovered documents confirming his Bangladeshi citizenship. Mr. Islam has been booked under the Immigration and Foreigners Act. Earlier this month, the Palarivattom police had arrested 10 suspected Bangladeshi nationals for staying in the city without valid documents.
