People who applied for International Protection and Ukrainian refugees under Temporary  Protection have been accommodated at the Tallaght Cross Hotel since 2022. Part of the hotel continues to be used for normal commercial guests.

An application was registered with South Dublin County Council on May 21 for “the partial use” of the hotel “to provide accommodation within 100 no. rooms of the total 186 no rooms for displaced persons or persons seeking international protection.”  The applicant, Tallaght Cross Hospitality Limited, wish to know whether this “constitutes exempted development or does not constitute exempt development.”
