MANDAN – Nearly halfway through their AA Legion schedule, the Jamestown Eagles’ standing is not improving.
Jamestown fell to 2-6 to league play on Monday after being swept in a doubleheader 4-3 and 10-2 by the Mandan Chiefs at Mandan Veterans Memorial Ballpark.
Game 1: Mandan 4, Jamestown 3
Hudsen Sheldon singled in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning for Mandan. Troy Gerhardt singled to lead the inning off. With one out, Peyton Koppy singled to set up Sheldon’s big hit.
A wild pitch scored a lead run for Jamestown (7-8, 2-5 AA Legion) in the top of the fifth inning, but Mandan evened the game in the botton of the fifth when Jaxon Kolpin walked Aidan Bogner with the bases loaded.
Cody Busch drove in a run with a groundout for the Eagles, who were held to two hits.
Kolpin pitched a complete game, giving up seven hits, striking out five and walking three.
Game 2: Mandan 10, Jamestown 2
Mandan took charge of this game early, scoring two runs in each of the first three innings. Jensen Schulz had three hits, two of which were doubles, and drove in four runs. Ty Weiler and Zach Weiler drove in two runs each.
Brenner Weber had an RBI double and Brady Nenow drove in a run with a fielder’s choice for Jamestown (7-9, 2-6 AA Legion).
Eagles starter Kyler Perkins allowed eight runs and six hits in two and two thirds innings.
Jamestown will again play on the road on Thursday against Grand Forks. Coverage of the doubleheader will begin at 4:45 PM on Jamestown 107.1.
