A 33-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Noreen Daly in Co Waterford.

The body of Ms Daly was discovered at her home at Ardsallagh near Youghal Bridge on Monday afternoon.

This morning, Finn Yowell, with an address at Old School House, Ticknock, Co Waterford, was brought before Carrick-on-Suir District Court charged with her murder.

It is understood he is not related to Ms Daly but was known to her.

Detective Garda Stephen Condon of Dungarvan Garda Station gave evidence to the court of arrest, charge and caution.

Judge John O’Leary granted a request for solicitor for Mr Yowell, Ken Cunningham, that his client be both medically and psychologically assessed.

Ms Daly, a widow, is understood to have lived alone in the house, having moved down from Dublin permanently only eight weeks ago. The house had been used as a holiday home by Ms Daly until then.

In a post on social media, Clashmore and Kinsalebeg Community Council said she was “a kind, caring and generous person”, who loved the wider family she had shared with her late husband, Michael.

“She was very much involved in the local community and got involved in traditional music, Blackwater Opera Festival, Ardmore Choir, Tai Chi, and Clashmore exercise classes to name just a few,” they added.

“She saw this move as the next stage of her life where she was going to carry on exploring and learning. Every day involved meeting her friends and doing new things,” they said.
