South Korea eyes postwar role in Iran as Trump weighs $300bn reconstruction fund

South Korea said Tuesday that it hopes to play a “constructive role” in rebuilding the Middle East following a preliminary peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran, but emphasized that any discussion of a reconstruction fund remains part of broader negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Foreign ministry spokesperson Park Il said Seoul would have to wait for the outcome of those talks before assessing specific proposals, adding that the government hopes a final agreement, including on Iran’s nuclear program, will help restore peace and stability in the region.
