Dept of Agriculture offers farm tools for crop farmers

The Department of Agriculture is offering farm tools for crop farmers in the territory.

Director of Agriculture Daniel Helshem says funds left over from the federally funded Specialty Crops Program are being used to offer this assistance. Each farmer is eligible to receive up to $1,000 worth of tools however they must not have received tools in 2024 when the farm tools program was first offered.

Farmers can apply at the Department of Agriculture in Tafuna and also at the DOA offices in Tau and Ofu, Manu’a. Director Helshem explains the type of tools that farmers can apply for.

The Department of Agriculture began issuing applications for the farm tools program Monday and Helshem is encouraging crop farmers to come in quickly and apply.
