An Indian Air Force AN-32 transport aircraft met with an accident on Saturday at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam. Five Air Force personnel lost their lives in this tragedy. According to the Indian Air Force, the accident occurred while the AN-32 was attempting to land at the Jorhat airfield. The co-pilot survived and is undergoing treatment. The Indian Air Force has ordered a Court of Inquiry to ascertain the cause of the crash.
Officials stated, “An Indian Air Force (IAF) transport aircraft crashed near the Air Force Station in Jorhat, Assam, on Saturday morning; the aircraft has been identified as an AN-32, which crashed while landing at the airbase.”
Officials reported that following the accident involving the AN-32 transport aircraft, firefighting operations were carried out at the crash site. Emergency response teams were deployed to the location, and a rescue operation was conducted.
The Indian Air Force confirmed that five people died in the accident. Photos and videos capturing the aftermath of the crash at the Jorhat base were shared on social media. Smoke was also seen rising from the crash site.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of its personnel and has released their names. The five personnel who lost their lives include Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveervayu Danish Alam.
