Volunteers join hands to preserve Nilbarahi Temple

Kathmandu, June 29

A community-led conservation effort is underway at the historic Nilbarahi Temple, where locals have been volunteering their labour to support its preservation.

As part of the ongoing campaign, a public shramdaan (voluntary labour) initiative has been taking place for the past few days. On Saturday as well, volunteers actively took part in the program, contributing their efforts to restore access to the temple.

Locals have joined the movement spontaneously, calling for the reconstruction of the traditional pathway leading to the temple, which is essential during religious festivals and fairs. They said they initiated the work themselves to ensure smoother access during temple processions, events, and cultural gatherings.

According to organisers, the campaign has witnessed a notable turnout over the past week, with increasing community participation in maintaining and improving the site’s infrastructure.
