South Korea’s top financial regulator said Wednesday it will accelerate efforts to prepare the financial sector for AI-era cyber threats, including easing network-separation rules for AI-based security testing and pushing to grant full exemptions within the year to institutions with advanced AI and cybersecurity capabilities. Financial Services Commission (FSC) Chairman Lee Eog-weon announced the measures during a meeting with the heads of the country’s five largest financial groups and industry experts focused on hacking and voice-phishing risks in the age of artificial intelligence.
Lee said the government plans to expand the capabilities of the banking sector’s AI-based anti-phishing platform by
