Agartala: In a move aimed at improving educational governance and tracking student performance more effectively, the Tripura government has rolled out a new online monitoring system covering both primary and secondary schools across the state.
The digital platform was inaugurated on Tuesday by School Education Secretary Dr Milind Dharamrao Ramteke during a workshop organised by the NIPUN Tripura Cell and the Pre-Primary Cell under the Directorate of Elementary Education.
The newly introduced system will allow inspection reports and student assessment records to be uploaded online, enabling education authorities at the district and state levels to review school performance, administrative functioning and learning outcomes through a centralised digital dashboard.
Speaking at the event, Ramteke said Block Resource Persons (BRPs) and Cluster Resource Persons (CRPs) would be entrusted with monitoring foundational education in Classes I to V. Under the new framework, they will conduct school visits at least once every fortnight and submit their observations through the online portal.
He noted that the technology-driven mechanism would help officials access field-level information instantly and facilitate timely intervention wherever shortcomings are identified.
For upper primary and secondary classes, Inspectors of Schools will oversee academic supervision and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning in Classes VI to X. The department also plans to undertake surprise inspections and direct student evaluations to obtain a clearer picture of classroom learning standards.
As part of the initiative, teachers will regularly upload assessment data through the platform, allowing authorities to track student progress and analyse learning outcomes more systematically.
Officials said the system places particular emphasis on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), a key focus area of the School Education Department. The initiative is expected to improve accountability, strengthen monitoring mechanisms and support evidence-based decision-making within the education sector.
Director of Elementary Education Harshita Biswas called upon teachers, inspectors, BRPs and CRPs to work in a coordinated manner to enhance educational standards across the state. She stressed that collective responsibility and effective implementation would be essential for achieving better learning outcomes.
The workshop was attended by Director of SCERT L Darlong, NIPUN Mission State Nodal Officer and Pre-Primary Cell Branch Officer Abhijit Samajpati, along with Inspectors of Schools from both the state government and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Representatives from all eight districts, including BRPs and CRPs, also participated in the training programme, which focused on the operation and utilisation of the new digital platform. The sessions were conducted by officials from the Vidya Samiksha Kendra, which will manage and oversee the system.
Education Department officials said additional initiatives are being explored to further improve school monitoring, strengthen foundational learning and enhance the overall quality of education across Tripura.
