Francis “Frank” C. Pizziferri
SOUTH PORTLAND – Francis “Frank” C. Pizziferri, 91, of South Portland, Maine, formerly Palm City, Fla., passed away peacefully at the Maine Veterans Home on June 7, 2026.
A lifelong educator, Frank was a man of many dimensions: social anthropologist, world traveler, union organizer, and passionate about discussing politics and current events.
Frank enjoyed sailing, fishing, playing cards, and reading. His sharp wit and sarcasm endeared him to all who knew him. To be in his presence was to know you were about to learn something.
Frank taught at Worcester State University for 27 years. Frank received a doctorate from UMass Amherst, a masters from the Illinois Institute of Technology and his bachelors from Boston University.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Domenic (Marcia) of Boynton Beach, Fla., daughters, Lisa LeDoux of Biddeford and Michelle Smith (James) of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; grandchildren Zachary and Emily LeDoux; sister, Mary Clougherty; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Michael, Joseph and James, and sister Angelina Mullaney.
Frank Pizziferri lived with purpose and passion. He will be deeply missed.
